Brief History
The Department was started in January 2007. The undergraduate courses are being offered since July 2008. The postgraduate course has been started recently in September 2019.
Objectives of the Department
To impart Teaching, Research and Extension services in the field of Veterinary Microbiology
Thrust Areas of Research
- To identify the predominant clones of Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) at Bovine-Human Interface and study their relationship.
- To study the multi-drug resistance profile of MRSA using the recommended harmonised panel of antimicrobials for susceptibility testing of MRSA.
- To promote awareness regarding antimicrobial resistance, clean milk production and the cow –side tests for detection of subclinical mastitis among the stakeholders.
